Eligibility

General

• Students in any quarter of study at The Art Institute of Seattle are eligible to enroll in online classes. Generally, first-time online students will only be able to register for Session I, which is the first 5.5 weeks of the quarter.
• New starting students may attend online but can only take ONE online course for their first academic quarter. They must also be enrolled in at least one "on-ground" course.
• All continuing students MUST have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and may only take TWO online courses per academic quarter; no more than 40% of the program of study may be completed online.
• Portfolio preparation and portfolio courses as well as college preparatory courses (e.g. GE82 Basic Math and GE83 College Preparatory Writing) MUST be taken on-ground and cannot be taken online.
• Courses available online will be selected quarterly by the Dean of Academic Affairs.
• Students must successfully complete previous online courses in order to continue taking online classes. Students with online grades lower than a "C" will be subject to review.
• In order to take an online course, first-time online students must complete registration at least one week prior to the start of the quarter.

Technology Requirement

• A student must personally own a computer with hardware and software required by the course (AiS computer labs will NOT be available for online courses).
• A student must have a subscription for an Internet connection.
• The cost for an online course is the same as the cost for an on-ground course however, an additional $100.00 technology fee for each course will be applied to tuition upon registration.
